CAREER GUIDES

ARCHCareersGuide.com is pleased to announce this new resource – Career Guides – for its readers.  Listed are a series of Career Guides on the profession of architect through the years.   The guides are listed in reverse chronological order with the most recent listed first.

To be sure, below is the true definition of a Career Guide (see below).

Career guide publications may take several forms, including PDFs, booklets, journals or books. A career guide publication will typically be divided up into several chapters or segments, each one addressing a particular career issue.

Included are many career guides from the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the largest professional association of architects.  Along with the AIA, the remaining collateral organizations (AIAS, ACSA, NAAB, and NCARB) and NOMA combined forces for Your Guide to a Career in Architecture (listed below). However, the most recent guide listed – Architecture Careers Guide was authored by the firm Mackey Mitchell Architects.  Below is their overall description.

An Architecture Careers Guide MMA

Our staff at MMA has crafted an Architecture Careers Guide to help young people navigate the path to becoming an architect or designer. Within these pages, we dive into all aspects of the career, starting with what an architect does and why it’s important, to the stages of architecture, different specializations within the field, and the academic paths you may take to becoming one. We’ve sprinkled in fun games, examples from real MMA projects, and even additional resources to help jumpstart your journey.

Another guide listed is Explore Architecture, a publication of AIA Kansas City and NOMA Kansas City.  Below is their link for their guides and description.
